GreenHillZone

fast

Green Hill Zone is Sonic's home stage from Super Smash Bros Brawl, and it's back on the 3DS version of Super Smash Bros 4. This stage takes place in the first zone of the original Sonic the Hedgehog, which you are probably aware of because it's been ported to in' everything. You better bring your marshmallows and sleeping bags, because this stage is really campy. It's has walkoffs on both sides, with the platforms dipping down to give you an area to fight in. In the background, you've got the famous loop-de-loop, which will result in cameos from Tails and Silver (& Knuckles). Silver was never in Green Hill Zone, so it's pretty weird that he's here. It kinda serves as an ironic echo, showing what the Sonic series has become, showing one of its tiest characters (from an unquestionably ty game) running around the classic environment from the first game. I'm sure Mariotehplumber screamed and threw a printer or something when he saw that.

The stage has an ortment of gimmicks, of course. The first of which comes in the form of the checkpoint. In Sonic the Hedgehog, when you see a checkpoint, you get happy because you reached it and stuff. But in Smash, when you see the checkpoint, you groan. When you hit a checkpoint, it becomes a hazard, and it's really nothing more than a mild annoyance. Yep.

Oh yeah, did I mention that the ground is breakable? Because it is. This can and will lead to lots of blunders resulting in your untimely demise. Have fun!

On the plus side, it's got a good ortment of music, consisting of the original Green Hill Zone theme, and Sonic Adventure 2's LIVE AND LEARN! HANGING ON THE EDGE OF TOMORROW! LIVE AND LEARN! FROM THE WORKS OF YESTERDAAAAAAY. Yeah. So that's good

Trivia[]

  • Green Hill Zone was also a stage in some Japanese fighting game with a bunch of ty waifus in it from stuff like Sword Art Online or that incest anime. Because when you think Sword Art Online or that incest anime, you think SANIC.
  • According to Nintendo Game Power, there's a cheat code that lets you get the 1up in the background.
  • This is the only third-party stage to return from Brawl, as Sonic is the only returning third-party from Brawl.
