How one regularly admires their collection.

amiibo is the brand of NFC figures created by Nintendo for their games (basically, its Nintendo's answer to Skylanders... is what people who don't know that the NFC technology has been in development before Skylanders took off would say). There is apparently going to be an amiibo figure for every Smash character, including DLC. That's right, we're getting official Mother 3 merch. In America. Holy . It's also the only way you'll ever get official merchandise for Earthbound, Fire Emblem, Xenoblade, Game & Watch and Duck Hunt. Well, if you can find it, most of them are impossible really hard to find, especially at MSRP (manufacturer's suggested retail price).

As a note, all supposedly (as in, it varies from location to location, but this is the general consensus) rare amiibo will be bolded because shut up, that's why.

Wave 1[]

Wave 1 contained the first revealed amiibo figures. It was released with the game on November 21, 2014.

Wave 1 contains the following:

Wave 1

All Wave 1 amiibo characters (plus Zelda and Pit because bias).

  • DK's in, dis gon be bananas

Wave 2[]

Wave 2

Note how Little Mac was whitewashed.

Wave 2 was revealed later. It was supposed to release on December 14, 2014, but some stores got it early, some didn't get it at all, some only got certain figures... basically, there was a huge SNAFU because of Nintendo's terrible release schedule. Remember the fiasco with Fire Emblem: Awakening? Now imagine that if six games came out that day instead of one, street date was broken, and there was no digital option. Yeah, just like that.

Wave 3[]

Wave 3

Hey, at least they're honest with the quality this ti- oh wait

Wave 3 was revealed even later. It will be the first wave to have store-exclusive amiibo, listed below (although we'd like to note that yes, Shulk is (predictably) GameStop exclusive, meaning Nintendo never learns). Also, amiibo are only store exclusive in the US. Yep.

WE STILL DON'T KNOW WHEN IT'S COMING OUT. COME ON NINTENDO, YOU HAD THE PERFECT OPPORTUNITY TO TELL US DURING THE JANUARY DIRECT.

...And they have absolutely no set date. Stores get them when they get them. Different countries, different stores, different releases. Absolutely no one knows.

...And now it turns out that anything not named Bowser is sold out almost immediately. While some, such as Shulk, will get a second shipment (...in May), others, such as Rosalina, have been confirmed to not be restocked in North America (because that's clearly where everyone lives).

Wave 4[]

Wave4

At least they're being honest about the quality up close.

Wave 4 was revealed during the January (2015) Nintendo direct. None of these seemed to be store exclusive until Ness was revealed to be GameStop exclusive, and Jigglypuff and Greninja soon followed. Wave 4 took forever to be put up for pre-orders (Over a month!) likely due to this. Not much more to say about this selection... Except that the two most popular seem to be Ness and Lucina.

  • Robin
  • Lucina
  • Pac-Man
  • Wario
  • Ness (of course he's GameStop exclusive)
  • Charizard
  • Greninja (Toys Я Us Exclusive)
  • Jigglypuff (Target Exclusive, but pre-orders were down after 7 minutes, so good luck finding it in stores. In fact, this is actually a good thing since Target liked the demand so much that Jigglypuff seems to be up on the website permanently, and it's now able to be spotted in the wild.)

Actual Wave 5[]

This is the best wave of amiibo, according to Masahiro Sakurai. In North America, Palutena came out on July 24, 2015 while Dark Pit will come out on July 31, 2015.

SoUnbelievablyAngry

Five on the left, six on the right.

Wave 6[]

Wave6

Oh and by the way, there's two versions of R.O.B., so look forward to that, collectors.

Have fun trying to get anyone who's not Dr. Mario.

Wave 7[]

At this point, we're just following the North American release schedule since no one has any idea what's going on anymore. So we're just going to put the Triple Pack there. All three of these guys are Gamestop exclusive. Awesome, right? But wait, it gets better: this is the only way to get any of them! That's right, they're not sold individually!

Wave Find Mii[]

Apparently, they're not actually included with any others. No, we don't know why. Could these even be called waves at this point? Or maybe we're just trying to be cool and separate from r/amiibo the same way NIWA is separate from Wikia, even the amazing ones like the Xenoblade wiki. But if you can get past the disorganization and somewhat biased views, this is actually a pretty good database.

Oh, and they're all Toys Я Us exclusive.

Wave 9[]

Wave7

"Then comes Falco..."

Mewtwo EU Package

The most powerful amiibo; most definitely NOT Nintendo World Store exclusive.

In restless streets I walk alone... Narrow streets of cobblestone...

Wave 10[]

Also known as the "one man wave."

Wave 11[]

  • Roy (Gamestop exclusive)
  • Ryu
  • R.O.B. (Famicom colors version! Sucks to be you, people who imported it!)

Wave whatever[]

These guys were confirmed to be getting amiibo at some point. That's literally all we know.

Well, the Bayonetta amiibo was formally announced and shown off... back in September.  We've heard absolutely nothing since. Although as of December, Nintendo's manufacturing some new Smash amiibo! Reddit counts four, so maybe female Corrin will get one? Which doesn't make sense considering the Koopalings, female Robin, male Wii Fit Trainer, female Villager, and Alph didn't get any, but would anyone really complain about that? Who wants to relive the nightmare of finding Smash amiibo, honestly? Anyway, most people on Reddit seem to think that the amiibo will be for the Ice Climbers for Smash Switch, which makes some sense, but as a reminder, it's just complete speculation. We still don't know for sure that Smash Switch is even happening.

Oh, and Alm and Celica were announced for amiibo in May when Echoes is released. They have a section lower down, but it's worth noting that their amiibo will be coming out before Corrin. And still no S.T.E.A.M. or Fates amiibo support for Roy.

Although Corrin data was found in Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World, so there is still hope! And then Nintendo reconfirmed that Corrin is still coming. But we haven't heard about Bayonetta since the blog post or Cloud at all, so they're totally cancelled guys.

That extra amiibo is definitely female Corrin. Because some of us have a habit of jumping the gun, we won't put her on the list until Nintendo makes an official announcement, but come on.

And it was announced finally at the April 2017 Direct that the amiibo will be released in June 2017! And there's 6 of them!

It must be noted that FF7 Cloud, Male Corrin, and Bayonetta 2 Bayonetta are the defaults and are available everywhere while Advent Children Cloud, Female Corrin, and Bayonetta 1 Bayonetta are all exclusive to different retailers and are referred to as the Player 2 versions. Advent Children Cloud is exclusive to GameStop, and even though they're sold out now, they seem to have decent stock for him, plus he's available still as part of a bundle. Hahaha NO. Female Corrin is exclusive to Amazon, and good luck getting her. Bayonetta's Best Buy, and she's the only one with decent stock.

Cloud Corrin Bayonetta amiibo
  • Cloud
  • Cloud (Advent Children)
  • Corrin (Male)
  • Corrin (Female)
  • Bayonetta (Bayonetta 2 design)
  • Bayonetta (Bayonetta 1 design)

You thought it was over, though? Secured your orders? Have Player 2 Corrin coming in? Not yet! Some warehosues have been sending out male Corrin instead! The ride never ends!

Cards[]

That's right, anyone who doesn't get an amiibo before it's gone forever can get a card with the same functionalities! Nintendo clearly listens to its fans oh so much.

So far, only Animal Crossing cards have been confirmed, and it's getting figures anyway, plus more and more have been getting restocks, so who knows? Maybe Nintendo actually does listen to its fans every once in a while. Also, Shadow Mewtwo. Which would've been a pretty cool figure, honestly, but a card is better than nothing.

Also there are Mario sports cards that reuse offiical artwork from older games for everyone except for Daisy. Yes, really.

Quality[]

Morth.mp4-0

Morth.mp4-0

A controversial topic of amiibo has been the quality, notably the drastic drop from the prototypes shown at E3 (and in the images of the first two waves) to their current states.

While not technically a quality thing, amiibo only work with one game that uses their data (as in, does more than reading). If you try to do another, you have to delete your original data on it. Meaning Nintendo's going to be releasing a lot of amiibo in the future.

Defects[]

Tumblr nfhniySagT1qdqhkjo1 r2 500

It's bound to happen eventually.

00001277

Just some of the defects having a chat.

Another feature amiibo figures are famous for is the stunning amount of defects, including Metroid having two blasters on his arm instead of one (which later sold for $2,500) and working as a Russian metro p.

PSA: When amiibo shopping, always look at all of them, even the ones you already have. Defective ones are selling for quite a bit, so it's always worth a look. Although Defects are rare and hard to come across nowadays and not as hyped over, they will still get you a decent chunk of cash from a fanatic.

Here are some other examples (as with above, there are some not listed that have it even worse than most of these, such as stuff like SPECS OF BROWN PAINT ON THEIR FACES AND CLOTHING, OOOOOO!!!)

Customs[]

Really? It wasn't here before?

Anyway, custom amiibo are amiibo but are either painted, dressed up or physically altered to make them look different to unrecognisebale. Most of the time, it varies from a different colour pallete to a different character altogether (EG: A Charizard to a Shiny Charizard or Sonic to Shadow).

Rarity[]

B8xNI2MCQAEYXav

The oh-so rare Rosalina Amiibo

It must also be noted that some amiibo characters are incredibly hard to find, with Marth and Villager as the two rarest (Even tho Mikokiri saw about a dozen of both of them in her favorite EB Games but they sold quickly after the rumor). As in, they're completely sold out nearly everywhere, and in the places where they're not, they usually cost more than the default cost of three amiibo. And due to the compatibility with Hyrule Warriors, Link seems to be sold out in many places too, mainly because: HOLY I WANT THAT MOTHERSPINNERRRRRRR BECAUSE MUST HAVE ALL WEAPONS!!!!!!!! What? You say I got all the weapons in adventure mode? THAT ISN'T ENOUGH, I GOTTA BUY ALL THE DLC AND BECAUSE I'M ACOMPLETIONIST/PERFECTIONIST!!!!!!

And now Nintendo's allegedly started discontinuing amiibos. But not just any, no, just the ones that completely sell out and are going for hundreds of dollars online. Because dumping the ones that sell like crazy is clearly the best idea. It's not like it makes absolutely no sen- oh, wait, this is Nintendo we're talking about.

And the day after the wave 2 release, Mikokiri asked someone at EB games where they were. He reported that EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM was preordered, which is the same reason why Link wasn't anywhere near her and most likely Samus.

Moral of the story: Preorder or you're ed.

Bill Trinen confirmed on January 14, 2015 that Marth and some other rare amiibo would be restocked later in the year. Well, we're hoping other rare ones. Marth was the only one name-dropped, and that was only because of Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. So people are still nervous for ones like Wii Fit Trainer.

Nessamiibo

This piece of plastic destroyed GameStop's servers.

And Nintendo hasn't said anything about fixing what the Mariotehplumber did to half of the Rosalina population yet...

So basically, pre-order or you're ed.

Did we mention pre-order or you're ed?

But even then, it's been nigh impossible to even pre-order the ones you want (unless it's a Mario character). Worth noting is that Ness's pre-orders caused every Gamestop in the world to crash. I had to wait two hours for that . Pretty big for someone from an infamously low-selling game.

...Except in Australia. After the rush that was wave 2 and 3 preorders, the Auzzies slowly lost interest in preordering these things and now they seem abundant in stores. No really. You can find like 3 WFTs and 10 Dark Pits in a single store nowadays. Although the Mario Gang in their smash outfits seem to be kinda rare for whatever reason. So move to Australia for amiibo, if you can withstand the spiders that is.

And now literally all of the above (except for Australia because we don't know) is outdated. You don't even need to pre-order anymore. In fact, Lucas is the only amiibo at any stores at all at the time of writing, and his pre-orders never went down.

To brag about how abundant amiibo are in Australia, every time Mikokiri sees a full shelf when shopping, she takes a picture then shoves it in the face of her American friends. One image got her 200 likes on instagram because there was just so many amiibo in it. It's like an amiibo hoarder's wet dream really.

What_Lies_Ahead_on_the_Amazon

What Lies Ahead on the Amazon

This is how ordering Palutena on Amazon went.

Famous amiibo topics[]

There have been a few notable topics where the amiibo are the main focus.

One of them was showing off the official m-production designs. Many people complained about Link's butter stick and the fact that he was looking down, and how literally EVERYONE that didn't need a support before (Such as Wii Fit Trainer and Villager) NOW need supports around their feet for no real reason. Many people said that they would cancel their amiibo preorder and not buy one at all but... They probably have at least one.

Another one was the one that birthed the Idea of Corndog Shulk. Mikokiri stated in the topic that she wanted a Shulk amiibo for one reason only: It would most likely have a pole rammed up his . This was deleted probably because a saw it as a rape joke but It was kept alive long enough for it to birth Corndog Shulk. Several quotes relating to the pole up Shulks were made such as "He'll really be feeling that (In the morning)", and the pole up the was also linked to his recovery: Ass Rush. In fact, Corndog Shulk has made it to other sites. Good job, guys!

Scalping[]

Scalping is the practice of buying as many amiibo as possible to sell them at inflated prices when others can't buy them. It is both an abominable practice and a good one that punishes others for not getting amiibo when they could because hey, it's their own fault for not constantly going to every single store to check every last moment of the day. This isn't only for amiibo though, as Gamecube controller ports never seem to restock enough for them to cost as much as a Marth amiibo on eBay or some .

Scalping seems to have shrunk as a market, although people still seem to buy 5 of one amiibo for... whatever reason.

Amiibo_-_The_Movie

Amiibo - The Movie

Something Worse than Scalping[]

There is something much, much worse than scalping, believe it or not.

And it's called Mariotehplumber

What he does is buy amiibo of characters he doesn't like (and rare ones) just so that others can't have them. At the time of writing, he has purchased over 252 Rosalina amiibo...

But it gets worse.

His Twitter is like a horror movie. He's freaking decapitated one Rosalina, and he's contemplated burning the rest. He also got all of the rare ones from Wave 1. Hundreds of Marths, Villagers, Wii Fit Trainers...

But it gets worse- he's planning on doing the same with Ness, Robin, Lucina, and any Marth restocks

Scalping may be bad, but at least someone gets it and doesn't directly target other people.

File:Yousir.jpg

Seriously. If you do this, you.

Oh, and newsflash, Einstein—buying more amiibo of a character you dislike just makes Nintendo think that that character is even more popular.

Others follow in his footsteps: They buy a bunch of amiibo - multiples of one - and don't open them, ever. Nor do they plan to sell them. These people are the scum of amiibo owners.

Non-Smash Bros. amiibo[]

Other amiibo are being made, but that's off-topic, so we won't say anything... except that Bill pointed out that Toad was getting an amiibo for the first time. Bill hates Sakurai's guts confirmed.

...You know what? Who cares about off-topic posts? There are no mods to tell me what to do! You're not my real mother!

So, without further ado...

Super Mario Bros. Series amiibo[]

The Super Mario Bros. Series was confirmed in some recent Direct or something. No one really cares about it, though, because both the figures are clearly gonna be common, and Nintendo said that it plans to keep these ones restocked. It's working- as of yet, Gold Mario is the only one who's been selling out. Hmm, wonder why.

Wave 1[]

Essentially the Smash line-up and Toad.

Mariibo

Yoshi is a Mario character chromfirmed!!!

Comes out March 20 to tie in with Mario Party 10. Just like Smash. Time will tell if there will be a Marth among them (if there is, we're betting Toad, but we highly doubt it). Also, in North America Mario appears to only be available as part of the Mario Party 10 bundle.

  • Mario
  • Luigi
  • Peach
  • Bowser
  • Yoshi
  • Toad
  • Gold Mario (Walmart exclusive)

Wave 2[]

This isn't really a wave, but it was released separately (not exclusive, either. I know!) from the rest of the Super Mario series with the rest of Wave 5 and the Splatoon amiibo. And also, it's Silver mario, not Metal Mario. They're clearly different characters.

Amiibo-wave-4-silver-mario

Wave Are We Ever Getting These Ones?[]

While unconfirmed, these amiibo are usable with Mario Party 10, which show them in different poses, with the Mario amiibo base, so yeah.

  • Rosalina
  • Wario
  • Donkey Kong

Chances are in addition to Toad, characters such as Waluigi and Daisy will get their first amiibo here too. Will they be valuable? Only time will tell.

Except no- it's been confirmed that only the aforementioned characters will have compatible amiibo in Mario Party. Not entirely the end because patching, but seriously, Rosalina gets an amiibo before those two? What is wr- well, then again, she seems to be popular within a certain demographic, but still. Dr. Mario is compatible with the game and he will work like Gold Mario or Silver Mario but with the Doctor effect that turns him to Dr. Mario. And now with Ultra Smash out...

Chocolate

They look like two entirely different amiibo. Yes, the one on the right is what you spent $50 on eBay for.

All-in-all, [This message was deleted at the request of a moderator or administrator]

Actual Wave 3[]

Surprise, they announced it at E3 2016 with a November 2016 release. Daisy is the only one here that matters, but some other ones are coming out too...earlier.

  • Wario
  • Donkey Kong
  • Diddy Kong
  • Waluigi (booo...get it?)

  • Boo (glows in the dark....as if.)

Despite not even being out yet, Splatoon has proven popular enough to warrant its own set of amiibo. When you scan 'em, you can get exclusive missions to get rewards and stuff. You can get the Inkling Girl and Inkling Boy separately, but there's also a three-pack containing the following:

  • Inkling Girl
  • Inkling Boy

The Wave 1 recolors are a limited release thing. • Light Blue Yarn Yoshi
  • Mega Yarn Yoshi (Toys 'R' Us exclusive)
  • Yarn Poochy (releases in February 2017 with 3DS port of the game)

Animal Crossing amiibo[]

HappyHomeDesigner

You remember how we were talking about cards earlier? Well it turns out that the card amiibo are currently for a 3DS download game called Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer, which has ignited so little interest from anyone that this section only appeared over a month after the others. People have found out that there's going to be a lot of these things, probably over 300 of them, given that there are 333 villagers in New Leaf. That said, knowing Nintendo's last foray into the whole 'cards that work with the game' thing, don't even bother trying to collect all of them. At least if you're in America. They'll probably distribute the three you see there, then not distribute any outside of the Nintendo World store, then allegedly put up 'booster packs' on their online store four years later, only to give you those three above instead. The cards come out on September 25 in North America.

NINTENDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

Although they are releasing figures for what looks like an Animal Crossing version of Mario Party. And that's exactly what it is, only without the fun. Yeah, the fanbase was not amused.

Wave 1[]

  • Isabelle
    File:Assins Creed.jpg

Of course the main character's going to be the hardest one to find.

Fire Emblem amiibo[]

Fire-emblem-echoes-amiibo

Surprise, being released along with Echoes (3DS remake of Fire Emblem Gaiden). Like with the Squid Sisters, USA gets them only as a 2-pack while every other country must buy them separately.

  • Chrom
  • Tiki

Metroid amiibo[]

No, you're not dreaming. Between Prime 4, the remake, and now two amiibo, Nintendo actually remembers the series.

Other amiibo[]

These amiibo are only single release and, as far as we know, don't have specific series.

  • Chibi-Robo (releases 10/9 in NA exclusively with Chibi-Robo: Zip-Lash, 11/14 in Europe with a standalone release also available)
  • Clic Color 8-Bit Mario
  • Modern Color 8-Bit Mario (Bundle exclusive in NA. But that's not the worst part. Oh, no, the worst part is that it comes with a Wii U bundle, so we're hoping that you didn't already have one. I mean, it's not like you'd actually have a Wii U if you wanted to get some amiibo, right? That would be ridiculous. Also now its not bundle exclusive anymore, but it is Walmart exclusive still.)
  • Gold Mega Man (Releases February 2016 as part of bundle with the 3DS version of Mega Man Legacy Collection: Collector's Edition; unavailable in Europe)
  • Wolf Link (Releases March 2016 as part of a bundle with The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD. But if that's not enough, it also comes with the soundtrack. Oh, and data from Twilight Princess HD can transfer through it to Breath of the Wild, summoning a wolf companion whose health is the same as the one you had in your Twilight Princess save last time you scanned the amiibo. Although owners will say the amiibo is basically useless since it saves you only like 10 seconds when you want to load your file.)
  • Shadow Mewtwo Card (With first run editions of Pokken Tournament.)
  • Pikmin (Comes with the new Pikmin game on 3DS)
  • Detective Pikachu (To coincide with the game, releasing March 2018; it's huge)
  • Solaire of Astoria (coming with the Switch remaster of Dark Souls)
  • Mega Man (only available with the Mega Man 11 amiibo bundle, exclusive to GameStop)
  • Diablo 3 Loot Goblin (releases same week as Smash Ultimate, Gamestop exclusive)
  • Link's Awakening Link

Also, Qbby and the six Monster Hunter amiibo are exclusive to Japan, so good luck with that.

Uses[]

Besides Smash Bros., you can actually use amiibo in other games, like, holy dude, I didn't knows that. Tell me more, I already trained my Peach Amiibo called Kiwi to level 50 and she kicks my so now what do I use her for?

Thank you for asking! There are currently 144 amiibo figures available, so a full list will come... eventually. Until then, here are just a few amiibo and what they can do. Please note that this list will not include generic all-purpose uses, only specific ones.

amiibo Stories[]

Tell your amiibo stories here!

  • I had an amiibo. It was pretty cool. My dog ate it, but it got pooped out. It was pretty gross, but damn that s expensive so I washed off the poop and reglued my amiibo together. It looks pretty good now. But now Samus tastes gross, so I should just buy another, but damn, they're expensive. - Pnkgoldcatpeach
  • I went to EB games to pick up my 4 preorders of wave 4. I also saw a Yoshi there and flipped out because we haven't seen a single Yoshi since Christmas. I also purchased a DK there because I was gonna buy him eventually because Pokémon syndrome. Then I went to Big W and HOLY THERE WERE ACTUALLY AMIIBOS THERE AND I DIDN'T HAVE SOME OF THOSE SO I MADE A DEAL WITH MY MOM AND GOT TO BUY THEM BUT MY DAD WAS HAPPY THAT WE GOT THEM FOR UNDER $20 SO HE DIDN'T SEEM TO HAVE A PROBLEM WITH IT WHEN WE GOT HOME. I PURCHASED 5 TOO MANY AMIIBOS THAT DAY. - Mikokiri
  • So on April 27 I had school so I wasn't able to go out to Toys Я Us to preorder my Greninja amiibo but luckily my grandma said she'll go for me. I was quite furious at my local Toys Я Us when I found out from my grandma that the store actually in fact sold the preorder cards about a week and a half before they were supposed to go on sale and I had no idea. Sometimes I just I'm just unlucky, but sometimes I think life hates me. #nerfGreninja - pokemonclaw1
  • I got a non preordered Marth amiibo on my birthday. had an awkward time explaining them how they work.-a random wikia contributor
  • Last July I finally found a Rosalina on Amazon at a decent price. I ordered her. Three hours later, I go at the Gamestop under my house and the clerk says they just got Rosalina. I cancelled my order and bought that one, but I had to wait for two weeks to get the cash from the Amazon order refunded. - Phantom Dusclops'92
  • On January 4, 2016: I went to Toys R Us and went into the amiibo isle and saw a Mega Man. He wasn't even common. HE WAS UNICORN RARITY at the time I went to buy him. Best of all it was retail price. It was a first edition amiibo left over from Wave 3 insanity. That was one of my craziest amiibo finds ever. - Jast Bish

Trivia[]

  • People on eBay have been labelling the elusive 3 from wave 1 as 'Discontinued', and Little Mac too... For some reason.
  • The average price of a Marth amiibo on eBay is now about $55. This is now outdated, just go to your nearest Best Buy and bathe in Marth like Scrooge McDuck.
  • Mikokiri had to buy a Link amiibo for $50 before they were abundant. It's the only amiibo she didn't pay retail price for.
  • You must have at least 1 amiibo to complete an achievement on Hyrule Warriors (Which is basically scan your amiibo 100 times, takes at most 100 days to complete, minimum is 20 days).
  • LordCarlisle hates the fact that they lock some content of games with amiibo (especially weapons in Hyrule Wwarriors).
  • amiibo-locked content is generally (if not always) patched into a game if not completely supplemental, but people are still acting like Nintendo's worse than EA now.
  • Lucas and Mewtwo amiibos were up for preorder when their CHARACTERS were announced. This is also true for Bayonetta and Corrin.
  • Villager is the rarest/most expensive on eBay of the Holy Trinity of wave 1.
  • Australia has Shulk, Rosalina, Villager, WFT and others, but not a regular Smash Mario, Peach or even Luigi. I'm serious.
  • Thanks to Restocks at least half of the rare ones have become easier to find. Although Sakurai still seems to be hogging all the Pit amiibo.
  • The plural of amiibo is amiibo. No really.
  • Getting an amiibo of a DLC character does not unlock the DLC. People have argued that it should considering the DLC is cheaper than the amiibo.
  • AC:aF was made just so nintendo had an excuse to make amiibo of the Animal Crossing cast. Probably. Because everyone needs two amiibo of dog waifu.
  • Mikokiri likes to take pictures of amiibo shelves in her Australian stores like EB games and Big W to make Americans cry when they see that Lucina, Robin, WFT, Rosalina, Pit, Palutena (yes, Palutena is found in stores OMG) Mega Yarn yoshi as well as most of the Animal Crossing amiibo are plentiful. She posts these pictures to insta, one of them getting around 200 likes with the subtitle 'Look at it and cry'.
  • Gamestop Italy opened preorders for Wave 4 before everyone else, so when the big crash happened they already finished most of their preorder stock since a month before. The only ones that were still available were Wario and Charizard, so they promoted them on Twitter with the tagline "Americans went nuts for this! Preorder them safely now!".
  • All the Mega Man amiibo outside of the Smash one are not released in Europe because apparently Capcom hates the idea of selling physical copies of Mega Man games over there.
  • As of 2018, a bunch of games both on 3DS and Switch have amiibo-locked features which require specific amiibo to be done. It would be a fine excuse to reprint them, right? NOPE! Enjoy paying absurd amounts of money for that Pac-Man amiibo you need for the exclusive hat in the Switch version of Little Nightmares!
  • While not confirmed officially, Bestbuy's preorder listings for the Ridley, Wolf and Inkling amiibo imply that scanning amiibos of characters you haven't unlocked yet in Ultimate immediately unlocks them. IT DOESN'T, IT WAS
